Melo Buchanan (Class of 2031), on your radar. Melo recently broke the California middle school state record in the 200m, currently holds every High Desert middle school record in the 100m, 200m, and 400m, and was also a key part of this year’s record-breaking middle school 4x400 team. He’s making major noise on the track while also emerging as a standout running back in football, already holding 5 Division 1 scholarship offers. Last year, he competed at the Junior Olympics in Houston, where his 4x400 team earned silver, and he’s just getting started. We already know his older brother, Makai Buchanan (Class of 2029), is also one of the top football athletes in California with over 40 Division 1 offers. Melo was a standout RB for the Rancho Warriors, where he was a homerun threat every time he touched the ball.
